2017 recorded 1351, 2018 recorded 1409 and as at end of Oct 2019 the current number of main applicants granted a Golden Visa in Portugal is at 1099 (1318 is the forecast for Dec 2019). Could this be a slight dip or is 2019’s performance indicating a downward trend of what’s to come in 2020? See the table below for the exact figures year on year.

What was the most favoured route to apply for a Portugal Golden Visa?

The most popular mode of applying to the Portugal Golden Visa programme has resoundingly been the Real Estate investment route. The least common Golden Visa route was Job Creation, evidenced by the low % of investors who infact opted for that route.

Moreover, the average amount that was invested in Real Estate in Portugal since 2012 is EUR 583,829. Of those investors who did opt for the Capital Transfer route to apply for their Golden Visas the average value of each transaction was EUR 1,061,462.
